Identity is the essence of being a specific person: this is Amy Li. Ethnic Threads is a self-portrait, a visual representation and documentation of who I am. It is a symbolic reference to the cultural, social, environment, personal and historical 'Threads' that sew together to compass my world. My passion for textiles, fabrics and fashion inspired my wearable artwork; I used digital media to reflect a postmodern approach to my traditional dressmaking practice. My work provides the audience with an inside into the woven framework, the 'fabrication' of Amy Li.
