What should i look for in a painting?

Hi there,

I have been looking through the site and like the work on show but i'm hesitant about buying as i do not know really what is collectable  

Can anyone give me some tips?

Derek Collins would be a good route to go down. Check his paintings out at Artery Gallery  www.arteryuk.com

Most of his work is 90cm square, and are really vibrant and highly textured work. They really make an impact to any room.
Heis a much publicised professional artist that is constantly growing inpopularity, so not only can be enjoyed now but can be a good littleinvestment  for the future.

"What makes a good investment?" is a tricky question to answer. People tend top look for 'names' or art students with a pedigree (i.e. those with degrees from a reputable college).
