Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916): The Poetry of Silence (RA 28 Jun—7 Sep 2008) screams of quality. This first UK retrospective of his work features over 60+ paintings (from Europe, the United States and Japan). His interiors, often punctuated with a solitary figure, are articulate, precise and introspective. Portraits, landscapes and evocative city views add to this visual feast.
